A Spa-cial Day

"Things are never quite as scary when you have a best friend."  ~Bill Watterson
I remember feeling that way growing up.  And I feel that way now.  As our family is experiencing change, I have leaned heavily on the support of my best friend.  Friends are so important... especially for girls.  I am so thankful for McKenna's sweet best friend, Kamri--her 'BBF' since second grade. 'Good friends' is something I pray for my children every night--and I'm so thankful McKenna has this blessing in her life.  When Kyler got invited last Saturday to go skiing with his best buddy, I really wanted to plan something fun for Kenna and her girlfriend.  My neighbor told me about the "Princess Package" offered at our local Cosmetology school.  For $10, your little princess can get her hair and nails done.  Fun.  Thrifty.  Perfect!
The "Before" Shot.

Getting Glammed.

After.

These two girls looked so fancy, I felt weird taking them home afterwards.  They needed a prom or wedding to crash!  (Funny side note:  See the maniquin in the background?  My two little boys (who had to endure the pampering date) where obsessed with this odd head!  They literally could not pull their grubby hands from this head's face.  Tracing her nostrils, rubbing her cheeks... It was funny!)

Oh decisions... this took a long time!

They both went for zebra nails... very 'on-trend!'

I think Kamri has the cutest profile!

Photo shoot in the lobby!  Don't mind if we do!

Beautiful girls--inside and out.

"When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives mean the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand.  The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing, not curing, not healing and face with us the reality of our powerlessness, that is a friend who cares."  ~Henri Nouwen

I'm bawling! :) What a sweet post. I am so glad these two have each other. Kenna has been one of the biggest blessings in Kamri's life! I love these two so much. So thankful for you, too, JoLyn! Thank you for such a FUN day! Kamri said the girl that did her hair reminded her of you, and that she was so pretty just like you. :) I love that the boys got some thrill out of the whole deal! Next time, leave them with me! :) You guys are the best!
