Easter 2009

The Monday before Easter, we colored eggs for FHE! The kids love this tradition. As they are getting older, our eggs are getting more and more artistic! We had B.S.U. eggs, polka dot eggs, tie dye eggs, and eggs with little messages, like "I love you, Mom!" Kids make holidays so much fun!

Ashton enjoyed the egg coloring ceremony from the confines of the high chair, but as long as he has something in his mouth, he's good! The smooth, hard boiled surface was a delightful, new wonderland for this mouth!

Coloring eggs wasn't much fun for Kyler this year. He and his sister were being rowdy (like ususal) and he got poked in the eye! We tried a pirate patch, tried coloring eggs in the dark, but nothing helped the soreness and light sensitivity! He spent the evening and entire next day crying and holding his eye.

On our way to Grandma and Grandpa Luke's for Easter dinner. This never happens--so I had to take a picture to document this phenomenon!
We had the funnest evening and yummiest dinner at Grandma's house. Grandma always makes everything so special with her attention to detail and decorative touch! It was a wonderful day as we listened to Conference, celebrated with family, and reflected on our Savior's atonement and resurrection. We are so blessed!

At Least He's Honest!

Carson's primary teachers told me the oddest thing a few Sundays ago... they said they refer to Carson as "Carcinogen." Isn't that a cancer causing agent? I thought that was odd... until I got that chance to substitute in primary and see for myself, first hand, what a hand full my son is! Well, ever since then, we ask Carson after church if he was good in primary. Today, his reply was:

"Well, I was a little bit good... but mostly bad."

My Latest Craze!

Few people know this about me, but I am prone to addiction. When I get into a hobby, it's never half way. When I read a book, I can't just read a chapter every night like normal people. I almost always finish a book within a few days of starting it. I think this is due to my O.C.D. tendencies. My own mother has about 30 pairs of red shoes in her closet that look exactly the same. I totally blame her for my wackiness. Anyway, here's my latest passion! Creating digital scrapbooks. I started a few weeks ago, and I've already published two of them and am working on two more! I'm recording my family history and fulfilling my secret fantasy of writing books all at the same time! Check out how great these are:

A Day in the Life of Ashton...

Piano Festival 2010

Whew--the first week of March just about killed me over with stress, but I am happy to report that I survived my second year of putting students in piano festival. I played myself for 9 consecutive years as a girl, and as scary as it was, I never dreamed that my teacher was more scared than me! I entered seven students this year, and they all made me proud! Especially my two favorite students--McKenna and Kyler. This was Kyler's first year in festival, and he got a perfect score! McKenna, now in her 2nd year, received a 99 and blew her judge away with her musicality. Both he and McKenna feel music so easily. It's so exciting for me to see them creating and enjoying music! I am truly thankful to my own parents who provided me with the opportunity to learn music. Music is food to my soul. Few things in this life bring be as much satisfaction and joy as music does--and few things bring me closer to the Spirit. I want so much for my own children to have this gift in there life--so it is thrilling for me to see the beginnings of their love for music grow!

St. Patrick's Day

I tried to play a fun St. Patrick's Day joke on my kiddos this year! The green milk idea came from a roommate at Ricks College. I wish I had a picture of McKenna's face when she opened the fridge door. Yes, they're totally posing in these pictures (what hams!), but the real reaction was hilarious! And, I've also discovered that even though you know it's just food coloring, green milk is seriously hard to drink!
